It’s been just over two months since I last posted here, and I am finally ready to get back to it. There are likely to be a few minor changes in the way I treat the blog going forward, but I won’t go into that today. Instead, I want to pass along a concept bike that a designer recently shared with me through the Bicycle Design Facebook page. Reader submitted concepts are the core of this blog, and I probably missed a few good ones during my break, so please send me a reminder if you submitted one of your own designs in the last couple months.
Natacha Lesty is a product designer living in France. Her latest project is an electric-assist tricycle that was inspired by nested shopping carts. The LECOMOTION e-trikes are designed to work as part of an urban bike sharing system. As she explains, the individual tricycles are “designed to nest within each other in a line for compact storage and to facilitate collecting and moving many at one time via a swinging rear door and a removable crankset.”
Natacha made a video that explains the concept a bit more, and you can find additional images and information on her Facebook page. She has a couple of other bike related projects too, so look for those on her portfolio page.
