Some of you may remember last year at this time when I posted a furry bike from the Trek Halloween ride. This Halloween, I will keep the theme going and post another reader submitted bike. This one comes from Andrew, an industrial designer who made this pole dance bike for the NYC Halloween Parade. Though he created the dance platform bike specifically for the parade, he points out that since then it has “been fun just riding around town.” You can see more pictures of the pole rider bike on his blog, which I should warn you is possibly not safe for work.

I was busy getting the competition details squared away last week, so I didn’t have the chance to post a few links that I wanted to. Here are a few of the things I missed.

Cyclelicious mentioned the Nike Hindsight glasses (not to be confused with this hindsight concept that I mentioned earlier). The glasses use Fresnel lenses to give the wearer an extra 25 degrees of view behind them in their peripheral vision. I think this is a very interesting idea and would love to try these out. Take a look at more images of the glasses and further explanation of the concept on the designer’s Coroflot page.

The Hindsight glasses remind me that I need to do a follow up post on the various Third Eye mirror products that I have been trying for the past couple months. One of the products that they offer is a tiny little on-lens mirror that attaches with adhesive to the inside lens of your sunglasses. It takes a little trial and error to get it adjusted correctly (in my case at least), but it is pretty cool once you do.

Yanko Design posted a design for a seatless lever-driven children’s bike. Personally, I don’t really understand the design; I would be interested to know if the designer made a prototype to test the standing and stepping riding position. Who knows though? If this ever becomes a real product, maybe the kids who learn to ride on it will grow up to buy all the used Alenax bikes that are occasionally passed off as collectors items on ebay.

MocoLoco posted about a new electric bike from Yamaha, which is apparently only for the Japanese market. Looks pretty interesting.

Finally, I will mention the “cartrider”, a design that I saw on designboom last week. In keeping with the theme that started this post, the cartrider may not be practical, but it looks like it would make a pretty good Halloween bike.
