For sale

I mentioned quite some time ago that I really needed to sell a bike or two to free up some space. In response to that post and another post in which I mentioned my old Pinarello track bike, a few people expressed interest in it. If you are interested, the Pinarello is on eBay right now.

I have owned that bike since the 80’s, so it was a little hard to decide to finally part with it. It is the only lugged steel bike that I still own these days, so it reminds me of the time many years ago when I first started riding and racing. Yep, I have good memories associated with that bike, but at this point I would rather have the money for some new bike stuff. Let’s face it, old Italian track bikes are hot right now, so I expect it to do pretty well in the auction. But it is not just the money that motivated me to sell it. I spend more time on my other fixed gear bike these days (that bike has brakes and fits me better), so there is no point in keeping the Pinarello to just collect dust in my bike room. I still love the way that bike looks, but bikes are meant to be ridden, not just viewed. I enjoyed the bike for a while, but it is time to let it go. Hopefully someone else can get another twenty years of riding enjoyment out of it. Either that or the next owner can slap an aerospoke front wheel, a top tube pad, and flat bar on it to make it into a fixed gear freestyler (credit to BSNYC for the term). I guess either use is OK with me… as long as I don’t have to see the latter. Really, I’m just kidding. I am curious to see what the new owner does with the bike, no matter what. Hopefully, whoever buys it will send me pictures if he or she makes any changes.

Anon, no, sorry. I have had bad luck shipping ebay items overseas, so I listed the bike as U.S. only. I can’t believe how many people have asked about shipping to Europe and Asia through ebay on this bike though.

bgw, yeah, something like that. Luckily I have 7 other bikes at home to help me through it.

Oh man, she’s so beautiful. Too bad she’s not my size.

Hey Fritz, it is not really my size anymore either. Most of my bikes are in the 59-60 range these days.

I ride a smaller frame, 54 cm range or so.

I tried to hop on a guy’s 60 cm fixed gear bike WITH A BANANA SEAT this last weekend. I could get on fine but dismounting was tricky.
