That UCI article makes me pretty angry. That organization has managed to single-handedly stunt the development of the bicycle more than any other entity, especially in terms of creative engineering and design.

It’s a similar story in the history of Formula 1 – the true innovators like Lotus’ Colin Chapman were always shut out and had truly brilliant ideas banned that would have moved the sport forward.

I can’t even imagine the sort of bicycles that would be on the market today if the UCI wasn’t there to crush innovation. There would be a lot more monocoques and disc brakes, that’s for sure…
