Design competition- the next step

Thanks to all of you who submitted entries to the commuter bike for the masses design competition. The competition deadline was Friday at midnight, and the vast majority of the 65 entries showed up in my inbox on that very last day (many in the final few hours). Now that you all have done your part, the other jurors and myself need to get to the work of reviewing and discussing the entries in order to narrow them down to a handful of finalists. Once we are able to do that, I will post the designs that are chosen as finalists here on the blog so that all of you readers can see them and leave your comments. At that time, the jury will get back to discussing the finalists and we will pick the one winner who will be awarded the Cannondale Bad Boy bicycle.

The jury’s job is pretty difficult at this point. Out of all the concepts that were submitted, there are many good ones that will not make it to the finalist round. Only one person can win, but many of the designs are worth sharing so sometime after the finalists are posted and the winner is chosen, I plan to post many more of the entries along with explanations from the designers who submitted them. Thanks again to all of you who took the time to think about the design problem and submit an entry. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to review each and every design.

As I mentioned in my last post, I am traveling for work for a couple weeks. I will be working long hours each day and will be doing my best to review the competition entries in the evenings. That means that posting here on the blog will be pretty light for a while. Bear with me while I am slow to update, but keep checking back to see the competition finalists as soon as they are posted.
