More reader submitted designs

I mentioned in my last post that I had more reader submitted designs to share. It has been an extremely busy week, and today is no different, but I still want to quickly pass along a few more. I still have a lot of email related to the blog that I haven’t had the chance to read, so there may be a few more submission in my inbox that I haven’t seen. As always though, I appreciate receiving new ideas from all of you, so without further adieu, here are designs that readers have shared with me recently.

Dario Grasselli, an Italian industrial designer, sent me these renderings of a mountain bike concept called the “Bison” that he worked on in his free time. As you can probably tell from his boards, he took his inspiration from the motorcycle world, specifically the Bimota Tesi. Dario explains:

“I wanted to propose a frame with two milled aluminum supports, that contain the internal shock absorber, while the rest of the frame is composed of carbon fiber boxes… I know that this bike can encounter some issues in terms of flexion rigidity, and I also know that in some cases a normal frame made in aluminum pipes is for sure better and more rigid, and simpler and cheaper.. But ok, I wanted to go a little bit beyond, without thinking too much, but just dreaming!”

Another reader, Jose Felix Garcia Bermejo, sent me a link to the work of a friend who makes bikes in Spain. If you click around on the Amaro bikes website, you will see several different types of bikes ranging from a gravity bike to a fixie with drop bars and balloon tires. I didn’t spend too much time looking at the site, but I did bookmark it to explore further when I have the time.

I also want to mention this suitcase folding bike that Charles from Happy Bike pointed out to me. If you are interested, you can see a folding demo of the bike on YouTube.

Finally, someone asked me why I didn’t mention the “official unveiling” of electronic Dura-Ace. Well, the short answer is that I have been busy, but you can see it all over the web. I don’t have much to say about it except that I am more and more intrigued. I would love to try it out.

Dario's design reminds me of the old Klein Mantra. While they do suffer somewhat from the problems he acknowledges they do jump stumps well enough, tons of clearance room!

    Love the suitcase thing.

I’d love to try the new Dura Ace, too. I guess we’ll see 🙂

Amaro is very good brand, he offer a lot of possibilities for a well done custom titanium frame. If you have a dream it will be real if you talk with Amaro…

In http://www.Foromtb.com there is a lot of information about Amaro brand.

    Take a look!

I’ve seen the suitcase folding bike before. Simply love it! Think about riding that around in an airport, from one terminal to the next… wow.
