Concept Bicycles Flickr Pool

If you read this blog and also have a Flickr account, don’t forget about the Concept Bicycles pool that I started not long ago. So far, only two other people have submitted designs to the pool. The Luxo bike light sketch (pictured here) by Flickr user f9593n was the first image in the group, other than the ones I added. In addition to the sketch, you can see a couple 3-D computer renderings of the light in f9593n’s photostream. The other new image in the group is a CAD model of a recumbent from heinnick. In addition to the CAD model, I like the rough, but rideable, prototype of the design in his photostream that uses an old skateboard for a seatrest. It just goes to show that you don’t need a big prototyping budget to prove out a concept.

Keep checking in on the Flickr pool to see if any new ideas show up. The name may be a bit misleading, but if any of you have sketches, renderings, or models of any bike related product that you wish to share, feel free to add them.

Since I mentioned bike lights, I want to point out this post on Cycleliciousness (not to be confused with Cyclelicious). The battery free iFlasher bike lights, designed by Troels Pedersen, won a design award at INDEX:2007 in Copenhagen.

I keep a similar Flickr pool but focused on “hacks” rather than focused “designs”…just a few photos so far, but here they are: http://flickr.com/photos/tags/bikehacks/

Sweet! I might have to submit a sketch.

There is finally a lot of VERY exciting design work going on in the cycling world. 2008 is going to be very interesting.
