I just purchased the Raleigh and love it! The classic english roadster lines and retro feel make this bike a pleasure to ride. The shifting is smooth and is a great workout around town. I like the control box on the back tube rather than the bottom (where Trek has the box located) where it is out of harms way from curbs or objects. The concept is unreal and this bike is smooth! Great job Raleigh!

So this bike seems totally awesome, but does anyone know if it has costly maintenance? I am looking at the long term here…

Hello, has anyone test ridden all three of the coasting bicycles, and if so what has been your experience with them. How do they compare and is the Trek definitely the lightest of the three?

I own the Bianchi Milano Cafe racer bicycle, but have found it to be quite heavy and not as comfortable as it looks. Have you ridden the Bianchi as well and what is your feeling about the coasters versus the Bianchi Milano?

I just bought a Raleigh Coasting after going at least 20 years without riding a bike. I’m all smiles–the bike shifts nicely and lets me focus on more important things such as staying in one piece. Very, very cool.

James – thanks for the compliments! We here at Raleigh are huge fans of your blog and appreciate your intelligent and unique approach to informing us all in the world of bicycle technology that exists outside of our little bubbles.

There has been tons of positive feed back surrounding our Coasting bikes and the Coasting concept in general – hats off to Shimano for courageously addressing the non-riding market. We are happy to be apart of this great movement.

Hi James, I agree that Trek did a great job with the Lime design. The hidden gear box is well thought out and the playful interchangeable covers are a very nice touch. No doubt people like designs that they can personalize immediately. Thanks for pointing out the new Lime site; they did a good job with that as well.

I like the Raleigh design a lot too. It has more of a retro style than the Trek and will probably appeal to a different consumer. The more the merrier; I just hope to see many more of these bikes in the future.

Trek absolutely has done their homework on this bike and subsequently receives an A in my book. Take a look at the website which just launched today! http://www.trekbikes.com/lime

I like how Trek put the electronic gear box under the downtube closest to the bottom bracket. Giant and Raleigh’s gear boxes really stand out.

Trek’s frame is also full aluminum and is really light.

Trek even came out with the idea of Lime “Peels” which lets the owner to change colors of the bike. Think IPOD and Cell Phone Covers! Talk about cool!

I can’t wait to get on one.
