Submit your best bike concepts

I was checking out portfolios on Coroflot earlier today and ran across a few interesting bicycle concepts. Pictured here is a rendering of a city bike from Navin, an industrial designer in Bangalore, India. You can check out more of his bike renderings here.

Browsing through a few portfolios reminded me how much I love to see concept bicycles from design students (or from anyone else for that matter). If you are reading this and have a cool bike rendering or sketch to share, send it to me at jctdesign@gmail.com. If you don’t have any bike renderings and need an underlay to get started sketching, try the 2D road bike or mountain bike templates that I posted a while back. Several bike industry people read this blog from time to time, so it could be great exposure for you students out there who are interested in a career designing bikes. Come on; let’s see what you’ve got.

I’ll have to see if my kids will design a couple of bikes 🙂

Perhaps a “children of bloggers bike design” contest?

Good idea Fritz. You probably remember that I posted one of my sons’ bikes concepts a while back, and it was a lot cooler than anything I could come up with. Put your kids to work and I will post the results. Let’s see who else is game.

Hi I’m an industrial design student from the Philippines and our current project is to design our own bicycle. I was having a hard time designing and making concepts because I’m really not a bike fanatic. :p Its a good thing I bumped into your blog, I really learned a lot from it. Now I can sketch more bikes in less time. I’ll show you our project when it’s done and tell me what you think about it.

Deeyawnah, I am glad to hear that the blog helped you out. I’ll look forward to seeing your design when you finish it.
