A pretty sleek recumbent

Designer Neil Foley has some interesting concept designs on his website. This collapsible tandem recumbent is designed to use both human and electric power. I’m not sure exactly how it works, but the rendering looks great. While you are there, check out some of the other transportation designs on Neil’s website. Thanks to Fresh Creation for spotting this one.

And Now For Something Completely Different (my apologies for the forced Monty Python reference, but I was hard up for a transition). I will be vacationing for the rest of this week and most likely won’t get a chance to post again. Needless to say, I will be following the Tour de France as much as I can. If, like me, you are interested in the bikes of the tour, I recommend occasionally checking in with the tech section of Cycling News. Also, Bicycle Tech is featuring all of the bikes of the tour that happen to be supporting a rider in yellow. Yellow Tech, as Lincoln calls it, is a great idea. You can take a look at Hincapie’s Trek Madone right here. Hurry, before Hushvold’s road bike takes center stage. Finally, on that note, I want to say congrats to George Hincapie on his day in yellow. All of Greenville is cheering for you George. We hope to see you in the yellow jersey again sometime in the next three weeks.

Good point Olivier. I don’t know of any recumbent that climbs well. I guess that is wher the electric motor relly comes into play.

Man, I really need to start proof reading comments. Two typos in one sentence. Yikes.

olivier questions if a recumbent bike can climb. No it doesn’t, it needs a driver 🙂

But on http://home.wanadoo.nl/g-race/ you can read about a very good climbing bike and rider.

Recumbent climb less good because they are heavier than “normal” bikes. But at this moment there are a lot of leightweight recumbents on the market (M5, Challenge, etc)

Lighans, thanks for the link. The G-race is an interesting bike. Just under 19 pounds does sound light for a recumbent. I’d love to ride one.
